The Confederation of Brethren

Brothers Stand Together

Independent Active Clubs. Common Fellowship. Shared Purpose.

The Confederation of Brethren (COB) is a division of The New Way (TNW), that exists to bring independent organizations into fellowship with one another while retaining their autonomy and identity.

Our affiliated Active Clubs (ACs) are not branches of TNW, but free to remain independent organizations with their own leadership, membership, finances, traditions, and activities.

Joining COB simply means that independent ACs have chosen to stand together rather than stand alone.

So, What Does It Mean to Be a Brother AC in COB?

A Brother AC is an independent AC that has joined COB and agreed to maintain a relationship of mutual fellowship and support with other COB ACs.

COB ACs can:

  • Participate in COB gatherings and events
  • Work together on common projects.
  • Share knowledge, resources, and experience.
  • Support one another’s activities.
  • Take part in COB publications and initiatives.
  • Build relationships with members of other Brother ACs.
  • Develop joint projects when there is a common interest.

Each Brother AC remains free to determine its own local priorities and activities.

In the Spirit of the 3.0 Model

TNW has been given authority from the Active Club Network (3.0 Model) founder, Robert Rundo, to create Christian exclusive ACs for the benefit of those in the faith.

In the spirit of the 3.0 Model, we have agreed to keep the TNW affiliated ACs autonomous while also creating COB in order to help facilitate the growth of these Brother ACs.

By joining COB, these Brother ACs do not surrender control and may leave voluntarily at will.

Brother ACs may also:

  • Choose their leadership.
  • Determine who maintains membership in their AC.
  • Control their own funds and property.
  • Decide how it operates in their local community.
  • Keep their unique character, traditions, and culture.

COB exists to make cooperation possible—not to micromanage or control independent ACs.

Our goal is to help the Active Club Network grow while providing for those in our faith who may have otherwise felt ostracized.

Anyone who wishes to join a secular Active Club is free to do so by going to https://activeclub.org/network/ to find the nearest one to them.

Confederation of Brethren

COB believes that independent organizations can accomplish more when they have others they can rely upon and relate to.

Brother ACs can offer assistance when another needs it, share what it has learned, invite fellow Brother ACs to participate in its activities, and contribute to projects that benefit all of COB.

We intentionally have it so that not every club will do the same things. That’s what makes COB unique, because unity does not require uniformity.

COB provides a common framework while allowing each AC to remain itself and to work together in order to make our brothers healthy and strong.

We remain separate entities, but we do not stand alone.

Requirements to Join & Maintain COB Status

We have made joining the COB as simply as possible. An organization doesn’t need to give up its independence or adopt a completely new way of operating.

To become a Brother AC, they agree to:

  1. Share the common purpose.
The Brother AC should broadly support the purpose and principles of COB and genuinely want to participate in a wider fellowship of likeminded ACs.
  2. Remain an independent club.
The AC must maintain its own leadership, membership, finances, and internal organization. Joining COB does not require the AC to become a chapter or subordinate organization of COB.
  3. Recognize the fellowship.
Brother ACs agree to treat other Brother ACs as fellow members of the same wider community and to work together in good faith.
  4. Respect the autonomy of other Brother ACs.
Each AC is free to operate according to its own traditions and local circumstances. No Brother AC is entitled to direct or control another.
  5. Maintain basic standards of conduct.
ACs are expected to act honestly, lawfully, and in a manner consistent with the basic principles of COB.
  6. Keep the Network informed.
The club should provide a current point of contact and notify COB of significant changes in its leadership or contact information.
  7. Participate when it can.
Brother ACs are encouraged to participate in COB gatherings, projects, and initiatives. There is no expectation that every Brother AC will participate in everything.
  8. Represent COB honestly.
A Brother AC may identify itself as an Brother AC of COB, but should not claim to speak for COB or another Brother AC without permission.
  9. Uphold the name of the COB.
ACs should avoid conduct that would knowingly undermine the trust and fellowship on which COB depends.

What Is Not Required

Affiliation does not require an AC to:

  • Give up control of its leadership.
  • Turn over its finances or property.
  • Change its membership rules.
  • Change its name or identity.
  • Obtain permission for ordinary AC activities.
  • Adopt the COB’s internal structure.
  • Participate in every COB event.
  • Give up relationships with other organizations.

The COB is built around cooperation, not control.
